Some challenges still exist in terms of effective communication between students, peers and teachers.
BCS students from Prep to Year 12, emphases the need of a consistent whole school approach.
The students:
Primary school enrolments have dropped in recent years
Boys at the school tend to leave school early
The community on the whole supportive of the school with generally good relationships developed with most parents.
The Classroom
Primary Years Staff have spent much time developing their individual programs.
Some programs involve cross-curricular links and an integrated approach to curriculum planning
Some of the teachers have put an emphasis on the principles of Productive Pedagogies.

All staff (1 principal, 2 deputy principals, 4 full time staff teaching in the primary years, 6 full time staff teaching in the secondary year) must work together.

Concern has been raised by the local community regarding the performance of students on the NAPLAN tests-via the MySchool website.
Schools are being compared and judged hence causing havoc in the school and local community.
Media (a large article found in a Victorian newspaper) questions the inconsistency and decline in quality of teaching in BCS and other State Schools.
We have developed a Barvel Central School Policy that targets these issues.
